The EBBS wishes to establish a Mid-career Award. Its purpose is to recognise a researcher whose work falls within the areas covered by the society and who is currently active in research, and has a distinguished research record over a substantial period (10-20 years post award of their Ph.D., with adjustment for career breaks).
The committee will consider a number of factors in making the award, such as:
Self-nominations are not permitted. Individuals should be nominated by a member of the society AND those nominated should be a fully paid-up member of the society by the time the nomination is submitted.
Nominations should include:
Winners of the award will be notified directly by the Society and will be expected to accept the award and present a talk in person at the Society’s meeting in Bordeaux in June 2025.
The Society actively encourages nominations of individuals from traditionally underrepresented groups.
The exact procedure to submit nominations will be available here from 15 January 2025 onwards.

The committee will consider a number of factors in making the award, such as:

EBBS is offering 10 Young Investigator Awards [2 for post-docs (up to maximum 2 years postdoc experience) and 8 for PhD students] to attend the EBBS meeting in Bordeaux in June 2025.
Award winners are expected to attend the meeting as they will have the opportunity to present their work during the meeting and will receive a € 750 bank transfer after the meeting as well as a special EBBS Young Investigator Award Certificate.
All applicants should be EBBS members at the time of application and should not have previously received an EBBS travel award (for a previous FENS Forum or EBBS meeting).
Applications for the YIA should be made after creating an account for participating in this meeting, through the personal myEBBS2025 area. This will be possible from 15 January onwards and until 3 March 2025.
